This Design-Then-Build project encompasses the development of a 10-acre private island resort/compound plus 12 adjacent acres in Springfield Township, Michigan. The project includes the construction of multiple buildings accessible only by a custom-built bridge to span the surrounding waters. Each structure carefully designed to blend with the existing natural beauty of the island while offering some modern comforts. All of the rough sawn wood and whole timber that you see in the pictures was cut down, dried, milled and shipped from Millersburg Michigan. Each building is connected with underground tunnels, so none of the inhabitants need to go outside to migrate between structures. Some key features of the design include the the custom wood trusses and intricate custom steel detailing, which not only adds a character to the architecture but also ensures structural integrity in the challenging island environment. From the unique construction challenges to the integration of contemporary design elements, this lake resort compound stands as a testament to both craftsmanship and innovation.
